Creating or translating subtitles is not always easy because of the need to make it brief. It might be likened to recording the soundtrack of a film with a camera and having to focus on the essential. When it comes to dialogues between more than two people, this can become a real challenge.
I mainly translate subtitles for documentaries and will usually pass on the result to you as an SRT file (although other formats are possible as well) or a dialogue list if the subtitles are to be narrated during screening.
Creating transcripts of dialogues or presentations does not call for particular brevity. However, depending on the purpose of the transcript, it may be necessary to carefully straighten out the sometimes unpolished and ungrammatical ways of the spoken word.
